Development and Marketing Coordinator

Position Summary The Development and Marketing Coordinator is responsible for providing accurate and timely donor stewardship, data management, donor communications and general support for all fund development initiatives. The Development Coordinator directly impacts the goals of the Development Department through content creation and coordinating direct mail appeals, donor stewardship, special events and programs, and the donor database.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the integrity and maintenance of the fund development database; maintains electronic foundation, corporation, and donor files in development database to ensure all gift/pledge information is accurate and up-to-date
Processes donations and prepares acknowledgement letters, collateral, and other correspondence with donors, corporations, and foundations
Prepares and issues press releases
Creates Membership newsletters
Manages the Council’s LinkedIn Account
Performs graphic design duties
Acts as copy editor, writing and editing a variety of department and Council projects
Promotes a culture of philanthropy through timely and targeted donor stewardship, and stewards a small portfolio of membership-specific donors
Drafts and manages donor communication efforts, including monthly donor newsletter, donor related media posts, appeals, and the annual report while adhering to GSSOAZ’s brand messaging
Creates timely fundraising reports and other database reports, queries, and exports, as needed; strategically segments development data to support donor communication and fund development appeal/campaign strategy; analyzes resulting data to inform future efforts
Coordinates communication with Finance department; reconciles development reports with finance reports on a monthly basis
Assists the development team in the research of individual donor prospects through development software
Assists the Chief Marketing and Development Officer in implementation of department’s systems and processes to optimize team efforts
Promote and assist fund development events including registration, communications, and planning efforts
Ensure Girl Scouting is open to all girls and adults by delivering the Girl Scout message of pluralism and diversity that contributes to the cultural competence to all members of the Council
Responsible for learning and staying abreast of current information regarding Girl Scouts, GSSOAZ and our products and offerings
Demonstrate and promote a climate of courtesy and professionalism to coworkers, the volunteers served by the Council, and others with whom their job puts them in contact
Promote and assist with Council wide programs, activities, and fund development endeavors, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to Council procedures and policies
Attend trainings and meetings as required, some of which may be off-site
Prepare and submit yearly, quarterly, monthly and weekly electronic reports
Maintain files in an organized and up-to-date manner; adhere to Council document storage guidelines
Perform job duties in accordance with the Safety and Risk Management Plan

Qualifications
Associate’s Degree
Equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the desired knowledge, abilities, and skills
Proven experience working with databases and ability to gather and analyze information skillfully; familiarity with a fundraising-specific software preferred
Ability to operate various work-processing software, spreadsheets, and database programs
Microsoft Excel experience required
Excellent organizational and communication skills; customer service or equivalent experience preferred
Capable of working under pressure, handling multiple demands, and meeting deadlines
Proven ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment and common sense in determining priorities and carrying out essential tasks
Belief in the mission of Girl Scouts and ability to communicate and model the mission to others
Previous Girl Scout experience and knowledge is welcomed; not required
Previous work experience in a non-profit or youth services environment is welcomed; not required
Ability to work effectively with people of diverse racial, ethnic and economic backgrounds and promote an inclusive environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Flexible and able to problem solve and self-direct
Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends, occasional overnights and ability to travel as job requires
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. regularly, up to 50 lbs. occasionally, sit, bend and reach, throughout the shift and be active in supporting programs and events
Willingness to work in a flexible work environment, including satellite property, offsite from home office, public spaces or other location as the job requires
Possess the character, skills, and ability to be a positive role model for girls and adults.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly desirable
Ability to successfully pass a Background Check and/or obtain an Arizona Fingerprint Card
Daily access to automobile in working condition or adequate alternative transportation. Proof of meeting Arizona State requirements regarding auto licensing, driver’s license, and liability insurance, if applicable
