About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to create and maintain complex technical documentation that supports the marketing, operation, repair, and maintenance of company products. This role requires strong collaboration with engineering teams and adherence to company, customer, and government standards.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and update technical documentation, including product descriptions, functional details, operating procedures, fault isolation, maintenance and repair instructions, illustrated parts breakdown (IPB), proposals, and marketing literature.

Ensure compliance with customer requirements, government specifications, and engineering standards.

Research and consult with engineering teams to accurately interpret technical data and translate it into clear, user‑friendly documentation.

Analyze engineering drawings and technical data to create accurate documentation.

Evaluate and request illustrations/graphics for technical manuals and ensure proper integration.

Provide time and cost estimates for documentation projects and assist in project planning.

Participate in reviews, validation efforts, and testing of Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs).

Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry trends, tools, and best practices.

Ensure documentation meets deadlines, quality standards, and budget requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Working knowledge of hydraulics, mechanics, electronics, and system operations.

Proficiency in XML authoring tools (e.g., Arbortext Epic Editor, Oxygen) and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Experience with Adobe Acrobat Professional or similar PDF markup tools.

Ability to interpret complex engineering designs and translate them into clear documentation.

Strong attention to detail and command of English language.

Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams across multiple locations.

Familiarity with IETM functionality, development processes, and markup languages preferred.

Customer interaction and service skills required.

Preferred Skills

Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS).

Mechanical/Electrical/Operator technical writing experience, preferably in the defense industry.

Validation/Verification experience, including on‑vehicle testing.

Knowledge of military and commercial standards.

Education & Experience

Required: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience, plus 5+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred: Defense industry experience and specialized technical knowledge.
