Summary The Ash Group is hiring a dedicated
Senior Technical Editor
for our client ( a global leader providing advanced systems and support in defense, aerospace, and security ) based
onsite
in
Sterling Heights, MI . This highly specialized role requires
5+ years
of experience creating and revising complex technical documentation within the
Defense Industry . The successful candidate must possess deep technical knowledge of
hydraulics, mechanics, and electronics , and be proficient in
XML authoring tools
(e.g., Arbortext Epic Editor or Oxygen) and
Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM)
development.
US Citizenship or Green Card is required.
Compensation:
Competitive pay rate of
$50 per hour.
Benefits:
Medical, dental, vision, and direct primary care benefits. After six months of employment, enjoy a 4% matched 401(k) plan with immediate 100% vesting.
Duration:
6-month contract .

What You’ll Be Doing
Create and revise complex technical documentation, including detailed functional descriptions, operating procedures, fault isolation, maintenance procedures, and Illustrated Parts Breakdown (IPB).
Research and consult with
engineering staff
to analyze and interpret
engineering drawings and technical data , translating complex information into clear, understandable language.
Ensure all documentation conforms to company/government standards and specifications and is compliant with customer requirements.
Utilize state-of-the-art publishing software, including expertise in
XML Authoring Tools
(e.g., Arbortext Epic Editor, Oxygen software) and
Adobe Acrobat Professional
for illustration markups.
Participate in reviews and
validation/verification
efforts (including on-vehicle experience as a plus) and assist with project time and cost estimates.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience, plus
5 additional years of relevant experience .
5+ years
of experience within the
Defense Industry
is required.
Working knowledge of
hydraulics, mechanics, electronics, and system operations
necessary to write detailed technical documentation.
5+ years
of experience with
XML Authoring Tool
(e.g., Arbortext Epic Editor or Oxygen) and
Adobe Acrobat Professional PDF Software .
Strong understanding of
Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM)
functionality, development processes, and markup languages.
Ability to understand complex engineering designs, interpret drawings and terminology, and effectively communicate with customers and cross‑functional teams.
Experience with a
Content Management System (CMS)
is a plus.
