Responsibilities

  • Act as Creative Director’s right hand, taking over their functions when necessary.
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities by motivating the team, facilitating great thinking, and keeping morale high.
  • Proactively seek opportunities for improvement in the department and offer executable solutions.
  • Keep the Creative Director(s) briefed on creative projects in a timely manner.
  • Establish credibility with clients by developing knowledge of their business, brand, and internal structure.
  • Manage outside vendor resources effectively, balancing cost and creative standards.
  • Stay abreast of current advertising, design, and visual communications trends.
  • Continuously explore cutting‑edge design styles and imagery.
  • Demonstrate ability to work across various media, including a working knowledge of the print production process.
  • Contribute creatively to new business efforts and present work effectively.
  • Travel to client sites as required.
  • Act as a brand steward, maintaining integrity and excellence in all materials developed.
  • Provide fresh, unique, and strategic thinking for all brand marketing and advertising initiatives.
  • Ensure agency work is on strategy and contributes to growing the client's business.
  • Collaborate with copywriters to develop conceptual approaches that meet client objectives.
  • Attend photo‑shoots and provide on‑the‑spot feedback to vendors.
  • Act as a gatekeeper, ensuring all final products demonstrate highest quality creative and effectively communicate brand messages.
  • Present and communicate creative concepts and rationale clearly to team and clients.
  • Demonstrate ability to “zoom in and out,” balancing big‑picture thinking with detail orientation.
  • Collaborate with client/agency creative and account teams.
  • Create a collaborative work environment and handle conflicts positively and professionally.
  • Work with account services from project start to finish, ensuring budget adherence.
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal business group departments.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally internally and externally.
  • Use strong problem‑solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Remain calm under high pressure.
  • Project a professional attitude and foster a positive team atmosphere.
  • Assist other team members as needed.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.
  • Manage time and prioritize effectively, overseeing junior members and delegating assignments.
  • Monitor workload to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Help manage and resolve staff issues, including performance and presentation.
  • Recommend adjustments to processes for continuous improvement.
  • Help interview, train, and orient new team members.
  • Mentor reports and conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Provide ongoing guidance to all team members regarding policies and procedures.
  • Report workload challenges to supervisors when additional resources may be needed.
  • Oversee team’s time‑off schedules, time reporting, and accurate timesheet maintenance.
  • Make decisions that serve the agency’s and employees’ best interests.
  • Embodies the core values: commitment, collaboration, creativity, and ethics.
  • Provide leadership within the department and across the agency.
  • Suggest improvements that impact agency policy and operations.
  • Support the agency’s goals and mission.
  • Present a professional and positive image of the agency internally and externally.
  • Motivate direct reports and serve as a mentor.
  • Identify, recruit, train, and develop talent.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 8+ years of art design/direction experience, preferably in advertising.
  • 3‑4 years of supervisory experience.
  • Excellent oral communication and presentation skills.

Salary

Salary range: $150,000 – $193,500
