Overview : The VP, Associate Creative Director, Art is responsible for ensuring that all Agency work is on strategy and meets or exceeds the highest level of creative accomplishment. He/she contributes to growing the Clients’ business, acts as the Creative Director’s right hand, and can step in to fulfill these functions when necessary. The VP, Associate Creative Director/Copy also acts as an advocate for the agency, helps identify and recruit new talent, and provides leadership and guidance within their department.

Responsibilities

Act as Creative Director’s right hand and demonstrate ability to take over the CD’s functions when necessary.

Demonstrate leadership qualities to motivate the team, facilitate great thinking, and keep morale high.

Proactively seek opportunities for improvements in the department and offer executable solutions.

Keep Creative Director(s) briefed on creative projects in a timely manner.

Establish credibility with Clients at all levels by developing knowledge of the Client’s business, brand, and organizational structure.

Manage outside vendor/resources effectively from both cost and creative standpoints.

Keep abreast of current advertising, design, and other visual communication trends.

Continuously explore cutting‑edge design styles and imagery.

Demonstrate ability to work in various media and have a working knowledge of the print production process.

Contribute to new‑business efforts creatively and present work in new‑business pitches.

In‑person client travel is required.

Act as a brand steward maintaining the integrity and excellence of the brand in all materials developed.

Provide fresh, unique, strategic thinking for all brand marketing/advertising initiatives.

Ensure Agency work is on strategy and contributes to growing the Client’s business.

Work with copywriters to develop conceptual approaches that meet Client objectives.

Attend photo‑shoots and provide on‑spot feedback to vendors.

Act as gatekeeper to ensure all final products demonstrate high‑quality creative and effectively communicate brand messages to target customers.

Be an effective presenter and clearly communicate creative concepts to team and clients.

Demonstrate ability to zoom in and out—big picture thinking and attention to detail.

Collab­orate with Client/Agency Creative/Account teams.

Create a collaborative work environment between all departments and handle conflicts positively.

Work with account service throughout the project to meet budgetary guidelines.

Maintain positive relationships with internal business group departments and utilize them appropriately.

Communicate effectively and professionally both internally and externally.

Demonstrate strong problem‑solving and interpersonal skills.

Remain calm under high‑pressure situations.

Project a professional attitude and foster a positive team atmosphere.

Assist other members when workload allows.

Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Manage time and prioritize jobs effectively; oversee junior members by delegating and approving work.

Monitor overall workload to minimise waiting or downtime.

Help resolve staff issues and provide constructive feedback.

Recommend adjustments to roles and procedures for continuous improvement.

Help interview, train, and orient new team members.

Mentor reports with constructive, ongoing feedback.

Serve as a resource for accounts and agency policies.

Keep supervisor or department head informed of workload challenges that may necessitate hiring freelancers.

Oversee team time off schedules, time reporting, and accurate time sheets.

Make decisions in the Agency’s best interest.

Embodies the agency’s core values: commitment, collaboration, creativity, and code of ethics.

Provides leadership within the department and across the Agency.

Suggest improvements that impact agency policy and operations.

Demonstrate support of the Agency’s goals and mission.

Present a professional and positive image of the agency.

Motivate direct reports and act as a mentor to all within the Agency.

Identify, recruit, train, and develop talent.

Experience

College degree.

8+ years of art design/direction experience, preferably in advertising.

3–4 years of supervisory experience.

Advertising or design portfolio.

Excellent oral communication and presentation skills.

Salary Range $150,000‑$193,500
