Broadcast/Post-Production Engineer Associate (External Agency Staff)

NFL Films is seeking a Senior-level broadcast/post-production engineer who is a highly motivated, skilled, and passionate individual to join our team. This position is responsible for designing, deploying, monitoring, maintaining, operating, and repairing production equipment systems as a Senior member of the broadcast/post Engineering team.

The ideal candidate must be comfortable supporting a team by bringing fresh insights to shared problem-solving, building trust and relationships with users of varying technical skills, and understanding users’ needs/pain points to deliver relevant solutions. This is done in partnership with Producers, Editors, Audio Mixers, Color Grading Technicians, software & systems engineers, production & technology leads, and others.

Responsibilities

  • The team member will assist our award-winning Producers, Editors, Audio Mixers, and Color Grading technicians with any issues related to the Engineering environment.
  • Ability to rapidly diagnose problems and provide alternative solutions to maintain production deadlines. Ability to comprehend complex concepts and workflows.
  • Participate and contribute to the training and ongoing education of production personnel on operating equipment and systems.
  • The employee must be able to work evenings, weekends, and/or overnight shifts as situations arise.
  • The employee may be required to work a flexible rotating 24/7 shift as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • 6 + years of experience maintaining professional Video, Audio, Post Production, and Broadcast systems. Hands‑on management and maintenance of Audio, Video, Grading, Graphics, Transcode, Storage, Client and VM systems, network infrastructure, and broadcast systems.
  • Experience in professional Video and Audio system development and deployment using current tools.
  • Will assist in development efforts around new and emerging post‑production, media management, and broadcast processes.
  • Collaborate with engineers and operators in designing, developing, and deploying new systems and processes, as far as assisting in roadmap planning across multiple media systems and environments.
  • Manage post‑production system life cycles.
  • Team leadership and management experience a plus.

Skills -- Computer/Storage/Networking/Applications

  • Knowledge of data networking
  • Must have proficient computer skills in Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.
  • Premiere Pro, After Effects, and related tools
  • Experience with Blackmagic Resolve and 3rd‑party plugins
  • Familiarity with IRIS QC, Telestream Diva, Vantage, and Stanza
  • Strong understanding of video signals (SD, HD, UHD, HDR, SRT) and compression formats (XDcamHD50, MPEG2/4, XAVC, DNx, ProRes)
  • NFS, CIFS, SMB
  • Switches, routers, firewalls, TCP/IP, DNS
  • Experience with Signiant file acceleration tools
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing production requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Engineering, Video Production, Communications, or other related fields
  • 6+ years of experience in Video, Audio, and Post Engineering
  • Ansible Orchestration and Kubernetes Deployments
  • Knowledge of SMPTE 2110 systems

Salary / Pay Range

This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of salaries or hourly rates that the NFL believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting, that it might be willing to pay for the posted job. The NFL expects to hire this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials, or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

$50 - $55 USD

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

  • NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week. The role may require overtime (time worked more than 40 hours) and/or weekends.
