Role Responsibilities
  • Assess clients from pediatric to geriatric demographics through standardized testing and observational strategies.
  • Create tailored treatment plans that encompass short-term objectives and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing aspirations.
  • Deliver individualized therapy sessions that focus on enhancing communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallowing capabilities.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with an interdisciplinary team including physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, doctors, family members, and caregivers to generate comprehensive care plans.
  • Educate patients and their families to support ongoing improvement beyond the clinical setting.
  • Conduct inpatient evaluations and interventions as needed, ensuring a consistent continuum of care.
  • Document patient progress meticulously in accordance with both state and federal regulations.
  • Engage in continuous professional development through ongoing education and teamwork.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) for those yet to acquire ASHA certification.
Certifications
  • State licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory within the first month of starting.
Essential Skills
  • Solid grasp of evidence-based treatment practices for all age groups, with an emphasis on developmental and acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
  • Exceptional communication skills to engage with patients, their families, and diverse care teams.
  • Flexibility in adapting therapy methodologies to cater to varied cultural and language needs.
  • Sharp clinical judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation standards.
