Role Description

This is an on‑site role for a Music Instructor at Music Love Academy in Fairfax, VA. The instructor will deliver engaging music lessons in their primary instrument, teach beginner to advanced students, and support learners of all ages.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching private lessons, group classes, or early childhood classes based on expertise
  • Guiding students in developing their musical abilities, technique, and artistry
  • Creating meaningful, student‑centered lesson plans
  • Preparing students for recitals, ensemble events, festivals, and performances
  • Supporting early childhood music development (for candidates teaching ages 0–5)
  • Collaborating with our wellness team for music therapy–aligned programs (optional based on background)
  • Providing consistent communication and feedback to students and parents
  • Helping maintain an inspiring, organized, and positive learning environment
  • Participating in school events, recitals, community outreach, and professional development opportunities

Qualifications

  • Strong skills in music instruction and performance
  • Expertise in at least one instrument (or voice); ability to teach multiple instruments is a plus
  • Experience with group classes or early childhood music education is highly valued
  • For music therapy–aligned roles: background in music therapy, wellness, or trauma‑informed instruction is an asset (not required)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and guide students of all ages
  • Ability to tailor instruction to individual learning styles and developmental levels
  • Knowledge of music theory, technique, and (optional) ensemble coaching
  • Degree in Music, Education, or related field preferred (but equivalent experience considered)
  • Patience, creativity, professionalism, and a passion for teaching with love
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to a supportive team culture
  • Prior teaching experience in either private or classroom settings is considered an asset
