Job Overview and Responsibilities

As the Senior Designer – UX, you will play a key role on United’s Customer UX team, leading the craft of interaction design in mission‑based teams and elevating the quality of digital experiences across the travel journey. This role is responsible for designing intuitive, usable, and visually excellent interactions; shaping cohesive omnichannel experiences; and contributing to United’s design system to ensure consistency and craft across platforms.

We’re looking for an empathetic, curious, and craft‑driven designer who excels at problem‑solving, cares deeply about usability, and delivers thoughtful, high‑fidelity design work in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Craft intuitive, usable, and visually excellent interactions: Design interaction models that balance clarity, usability, and visual refinement, enabling users to navigate confidently across products and touchpoints.
  • Design inclusive, cohesive omnichannel experiences: Ensure interaction patterns, visual language, and behaviors remain consistent and seamless across platforms, devices, and channels to support a unified end‑to‑end experience.
  • Define interaction and motion patterns: Establish how interfaces behave — from micro‑interactions to complex flows — using motion, hierarchy, and visual cues to enhance comprehension, feedback, and overall usability.
  • Prototype to explore, communicate, and validate: Build high‑fidelity prototypes, interaction studies, and storyboards that bring behavior and visual design to life, supporting rapid usability testing and alignment with partners.
  • Elevate product quality through cross‑functional collaboration: Work closely with product designers, engineers, and marketing to ensure interaction, usability, and visual design come together seamlessly in production.
  • Contribute to the design system: Work with Atmos team to not only use, but also contribute visual patterns, and motion principles that promote usability, accessibility, consistency, and world‑class design craft across the ecosystem.
