Location : Southfield MI(Onsite)

Salary : $90k & C2C $50/hr

Hardware Designer

The Hardware Designer is responsible for the development of an assigned product or part of it, according to the development process.

He/she is responsible for the hardware design (documented in schematics and BOM), and compliance of the assigned part of the project in quality, time and cost.

He/she is part of the hardware project teams during product development.

He/she reports to a Hardware Function Leader for workload and staff development, while for project activities to the Hardware Lead Designer and the project management for delivery of assigned tasks.

Main activities/responsibilities:
  • Perform design, verification, and validation of analog, digital and power electronics for infotainment, telematics, cluster and display applications
  • Perform electronics circuit analysis, worst case design calculation, electrical simulation and delivers related reports.
  • Perform customer requirement analysis and definition of the electronic part
  • Attend technical meeting with component supplier and with sourcing to analyze alternatives.
  • Deliver electrical schematics design and BOM, product documentation, PCB layout specifications, verification and electrical tests, according to hardware design guideline.
  • Define the HW/SW interface of microcontroller/microprocessors working in collaboration with SW designer/System Architect.
  • Contribute to FMEA/FTA/Functional safety system/product analysis
  • Impact analysis and risk evaluation of change request, modifications and PCN/PTN.
  • Reports and documentation of electrical design, specification, implementation, verification and validation, according to the hardware design process.
  • Support manufacturing particularly start of production.
  • Delivery of the electronic hardware documentation/dossier in ePIM database.
  • Assure applications of electronic lessons learnt and best practices
Key Skills
  • Electronic design & engineering of digital/analog circuits, switching power supplies, audio amplifier, led drivers, input/output interface to microcontrollers.
  • Electronic design & verification tools for schematics entry and for electronic simulations.
  • Knowledge of standard CAD for electrical design (schematics, simulations and PCB layout). Use of Allegro cadence schematic entry and PCB layout. Experience about Test, Debug, Characterization and Validation of electronics using standard equipment (Oscilloscopes, multimeter, Signal and Pattern Generator, Logic State Analyzers, Spectrum Analyzer, Network Analyzer, Wireless Communication Tester)
  • Knowledge of electronics devices and technology for automotive applications and capability to select components.
  • Electrical interfaces and thermal dissipation worst case analysis
  • Experience in hardware design and validation of electronics board containing embedded processors, FPGAs and PC peripherals.
  • Knowledge of EMC problems, signal integrity, and guidance rules for PCB layout.
  • Basic knowledge of Firmware development for embedded system (assembler language or C) and real time operating systems.
  • Validation and certification procedures (better if automotive) according to ISO9000 and ISO/TS1690 standards
  • Basic knowledge of Standard and Norms of Customers for Electrical Validations.
  • Basic knowledge of the standard of functional safety impacting electronics ( ISO26262 Methods and Measures).
  • Basic Knowledge of requirement management and traceability using DOORS tool.
  • Problem solving attitude and hardware troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work with multinational distributed teams
  • Time management to commit to delivery tasks
