About Care For The Homeless (CFH) Care For the Homeless (CFH) is a New York City-based nonprofit that integrates high-quality and client-centered healthcare, shelter, and social services to help New Yorkers experiencing homelessness. In its 40th year, CFH operates 17 community health centers and five shelters across all five boroughs and serves over 12,000 adults and children annually.

Summary The Marketing and Communications Associate plays a pivotal role in shaping and sharing CFH’s story, bringing our mission, programs, and impact to life. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Associate leads the day-to-day execution of CFH's marketing and communications strategy, providing multi-channel content creation, campaigns, publications, and event support. This role is ideal for a versatile communicator who excels at storytelling through writing, graphic design, and photography (video is a plus), bringing a keen eye for deadlines, details, and project management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Write, edit, and produce compelling content for CFH digital and print channels — including monthly internal and external newsletters, website updates, social media posts, marketing materials, and print mailings — ensuring clarity, accuracy, and brand alignment.

Develop high-quality visual assets — graphics, short videos, and other multimedia — using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools; design digital and print materials such as social graphics, flyers, brochures, postcards, event signage, presentations, donor-facing collateral, and branded templates.

Oversee monthly digital newsletter and quarterly print newsletter production, including content creation, formatting, layout, scheduling, and distribution for email campaigns, event promotions, fundraising initiatives, and impact storytelling.

Attend events and program activities across all five boroughs to capture photos, gather stories, interview staff or clients (as appropriate), and produce content in collaboration with site directors and program teams.

Partner with the Director of Marketing & Communications to ensure brand alignment, message clarity, and the highest editorial and visual standards across all CFH communications; uphold CFH’s visual identity and maintain consistency across all platforms and materials.

Develop, organize, and maintain comprehensive content libraries — including photography, video, copy blocks, testimonials, design files, and brand assets — to support efficient content creation and cross-team collaboration.

Maintain organized systems for digital assets, shared files, passwords, brand materials, and departmental platforms (including social media, website CMS, email marketing tools, and design tools).

Coordinate with internal partners (Development, Policy, HR, Programs) and external vendors or contractors to gather content, manage approvals, oversee production timelines, and ensure timely, accurate delivery of materials.

Track and analyze communications performance metrics — including email, website, and social media data — and support the Director in preparing periodic reporting for leadership, grants, and organizational planning.

Support CFH major events with communication materials including development, design, and production, and producing or assisting with signage, scripts, speaker bios, slide decks, talking points, run‑of‑show documents, event collateral, and post‑event reports.

Maintain and update select website content in collaboration with the Director of Marketing and Communications and Chief Development & Communications Officer, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, accessibility, SEO awareness, and brand alignment across pages, posts, events, and campaign content.

Manage CFH's social media presence (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, BlueSky) with consistent, mission-aligned messaging and strong visual storytelling; monitor engagement, respond to comments and messages, track trends, and identify opportunities for growth.

Support paid social and digital advertising campaigns in collaboration with the Director, helping to coordinate creative assets, messaging, targeting, and optimization.

Contribute to the development of materials for webinars, panels, special events, fundraising campaigns, program launches, and thought leadership opportunities.

Perform other duties as needed or assigned in support of CFH’s mission and communications goals.
