Instruction Librarian Description
South College Dallas Campus is seeking an Instruction Librarian to join our newest campuses team! This position is on-site, 40 hours per week as scheduled with your supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Conduct orientations, research sessions, and workshops for library users to explain services, resources, and policies.
- Produce and maintain instructional and research guides as needed or as requested by supervisor.
- Provide reference and research services at the service desk and online through the library reference system.
- Provide accurate circulation, interlibrary loan, and inter-campus loan services.
- Collect and report library usage data monthly and as requested.
- Maintain familiarity with the library collection and resources. Recommend print and electronic materials to support assigned subject areas.
- Communicate with assigned academic department(s) for collection development, and for the promotion and development of new user services and online initiatives.
- Participate in collection management, evaluation, and weeding decisions for assigned subject areas.
- Supervise and train clerks and Federal Work Study in various library duties.
- Participate in assigned department teams, projects, and committees.
- Participate in Welcome Sessions and other assigned campus events to represent the library department.
- Attend all department and institutional meetings and training sessions as requested by supervisor.
- Participate in a minimum of one professional development and one community service activity each year.
Requirements
Education
- Minimum Master's Degree in Library Science.
Experience
- Library experience preferred.
