Library Technician – Cimarron Elementary School
Cherry Creek School District is looking for a Library Technician at Cimarron Elementary School. The position is non‑exempt and classified under Paraeducators.
Job Summary
Under the direction of a licensed staff member, prepare library resources for library and classroom use, assist students with locating materials, maintain the integrated library system, and perform various clerical tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain library books, periodicals, and online resources—inventory, circulation, issuing overdue notices, ordering, repairs, inter‑library loan requests, and online access points (Daily 30%).
- Prepare library displays, bulletin boards, charts, and visual aids; schedule and maintain media equipment and related supplies (Daily 25%).
- Assist students in curriculum reinforcement, information‑literacy skills, and class‑assigned projects (Daily 20%).
- Supervise students and parent volunteers in the media center (Daily 10%).
- Perform clerical work such as typing, filing, and inventory (Daily 10%).
- Other duties as assigned and attend district library staff development (Daily 5%).
Minimum Qualifications
- Criminal background check and fingerprinting required.
- High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma.
- One (1) year of professional work experience.
- Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Basic knowledge of media equipment.
- Intermediate English language skills.
- Intermediate oral and written communication skills.
- Advanced interpersonal relations skills.
- Advanced organizational skills.
- Ability to work alone and with others.
- Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work one‑on‑one and in small groups with students.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working in the public sector.
- Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Racially conscious and culturally competent.
- Associate degree.
- Public library, classroom/instructional work in an educational setting, or licensed teaching experience.
- Experience working in a school district or educational setting.
- Experience working with school‑age children.
- CPR and First Aid certifications.
