Oakland University's Kresge Library is seeking a detail‑oriented and reliable Student Library Project Assistant to support a critical collection management project. This position involves applying RFID (Radio‑Frequency Identification) tags to the library's physical collection. This is a hands‑on role ideal for a student seeking part‑time work on campus for at least two academic semesters.
Key Responsibilities
- RFID Tagging: Accurately apply RFID tags to a high volume of library materials (books, etc.) following established procedures.
- Collection Processing: Prepare materials for tagging, which may include light handling, opening, and closing books.
- Quality Control: Ensure all materials are correctly tagged and that the tags are functioning properly.
- Physical Stamina: This role requires long periods of time standing and walking, often involving repetitive and highly tedious tasks like continuously handling and tagging items.
- Adherence to Schedule: Maintain consistent work hours and meet established production goals.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a currently enrolled student at Oakland University, at least half time in a degree‑seeking program.
- Available to work up to 25 hours per week for a minimum of two academic semesters.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to perform repetitive, routine, and physically demanding work for extended periods (primarily standing).
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a small team.
Schedule & Compensation
