Native Plant Landscape Designer Location:

Hybrid (in-person meetings at the nursery and client’s properties in Northern Shenandoah Valley/Piedmont)

About Us Seven Bends Nursery LLC, located at 76 Moose Rd., Berryville, VA, is a PhD‑lead native plant nursery focused on sustainable horticulture and ecosystem-based landscaping. Our mission is to increase the availability of native plant material and educate on the ecological benefits of native plants.

Position Overview As a Native Plant Landscape Designer, you will collaborate with clients, assess site conditions, and develop visually appealing, ecologically sustainable landscapes using native plants. The role combines remote work with on‑site meetings at client properties and the nursery.

Start date: February 2026. Open until filled.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct site visits to assess environmental conditions and gather design requirements.

Provide expert guidance on native plant selection based on soil, moisture, sun exposure, and other site factors.

Create and present landscape designs that promote wildlife, soil health, and water conservation.

Collaborate with clients to refine designs and ensure aesthetic and functional goals are met.

Deliver design drafts and revisions in a timely manner.

Work with the Seven Bends team to stay updated on plant availability, trends, and conservation practices.

Required Qualifications

Experience drafting landscape designs to scale.

Ability to digitize work at appropriate resolutions for print and web.

Strong knowledge of Virginia native plants and their ecological benefits.

Design intuition focused on creating environmentally sustainable and aesthetically pleasing landscapes.

Ability to work independently and manage projects with minimal supervision.

Computer proficiency: Excel, Adobe suite, Word, PowerPoint, cloud‑based file sharing.

Valid driver’s license, vehicle, and insurance for client site visits.

Preferred Skills

Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar.

Experience with digital drawing software, including Procreate.

Familiarity with using plants to manage soil and water resources.

Strong communication skills to explain design concepts to clients and collaborate with the team.
