Primary Functions Piping Drafting and Design Execution

Lead the detailed drafting and design of piping systems for field-fabricated projects, producing high-quality isometric drawings, installation documents, and supporting materials.

Ensure all designs conform to applicable piping codes, layout standards, project specifications, and industry best practices.

Incorporate field construction constraints, site conditions, and constructability considerations to optimize design for safety, efficiency, and long-term reliability.

Maintain accuracy, consistency, and high-quality documentation across multiple concurrent projects.

Project Management and Coordination

Independently manage multiple piping detailing projects of moderate to high complexity, planning and prioritizing tasks to meet project milestones and deadlines.

Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to resolve design conflicts, clarify requirements, and incorporate site feedback.

Maintain comprehensive project documentation, ensuring alignment with engineering specifications, installation needs, and regulatory requirements.

Contribute to process improvements, standard workflows, and best practices for field piping design projects.

Mentorship and Communication

Mentor and support Designer I team members, reviewing work for accuracy, technical quality, and adherence to standards.

Develop strong, clear communication channels with all project stakeholders, facilitating smooth information flow, issue resolution, and alignment throughout project phases.

Provide guidance on industry codes, installation standards, and constructability best practices.

Proactively stay current with evolving industry codes, standards, fabrication technologies, and field installation methods, applying new knowledge to improve project outcomes.

Cross-Group Collaboration and Support:

Provide piping design support to other product teams or groups during peak workloads or when specialized expertise is required.

Engage in cross-training to develop a working understanding of other product lines and systems, including skidded assemblies and panels.

Collaborate with and follow the direction of senior designers or team leads in other groups to align with shared standards and requirements.

Contribute effectively to cross-team projects, applying piping design expertise while expanding knowledge of other product areas.

Technical Mastery and Problem-Solving:

Demonstrate advanced understanding of piping codes, fabrication methods, and field installation practices.

Apply relevant industry standards, safety codes, and best practices to ensure designs meet compliance and installation requirements.

Proactively identify opportunities to improve design quality, reduce field issues, and streamline workflows.
