JR108243The Center for New York City Affairs seeks to hire a Communications & Program Coordinator to support the Economic and Fiscal Policy program. The Center for New York City Affairs at The New School is an applied policy research institute that drives innovation in policy. Our research and programming strive for a more just and equitable city and focus on how public policy impacts low-income communities. The Economic and Fiscal Policy program team conducts research and writing on local and state economic and fiscal policies that improve the lives of New York City’s low- and moderate-income communities. The program’s goal is to produce research to support a range of policy interventions – including improving work opportunities and pay standards, strengthening social safety net policies like unemployment insurance, and making infrastructure investments in such areas as universal childcare. Our work combines economic analysis with actionable policy responses to address structural issues undergirding racial and economic disparities. We seek candidates who have a passion for New York City and for communicating about bold, transformative policy ideas and complex issues to diverse audiences – from policymakers and journalists to communities and organizations directly impacted by those policies.The successful candidate will report to the Director of Economic and Fiscal Policy. This position is funded by and contingent upon external fundraising beyond the first year. **RESPONSIBILITIES*** Manage the publication production process – with authors, editors, designers, and external partners – from final draft to release date.* Draft and prepare content for website updates and newsletters circulated via Mailchimp with support from program staff and CNYCA’s design team.* Lead the team’s social media engagement, producing content (text, image, and/or video) in collaboration with program staff for multiple platforms.* Monitor metrics of online communications (website, Mailchimp, social media) to inform research agenda and related products.* Manage the program's press and contacts list.* Provide logistics support for team strategic planning, regular team meetings, and internal communications systems.* Provide logistics support for in-person and online events at The New School.* Work with research staff and advocacy partners to prepare presentations of CNYCA’s analysis (i.e. testimony, public events, op-eds, social media engagement) for strategic opportunities as they arise.**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*** Demonstrated ability to write clearly and succinctly and to make oral presentations.* Experience with website and e-newsletter programs, Webflow, Wix and/or Mailchimp a plus.* Experience managing multiple projects, people, events, and/or publications in a timely, efficient and collaborative manner.* Experience producing and managing social media content (text, image and/or video) on multiple platforms.* Bachelor's Degree.* Skilled problem-solver.* Active listener, respectful of the contributions of others.**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*** Demonstrated skills in communications, marketing, community outreach or related fields with three years’ experience.* Experience curating content for social media and creating original online and printed marketing material/collateral.* Knowledge of New York City government and advocacy.* Experience with event planning.* Graphic design skills, experience with Adobe software a plus.* Interest in and familiarity with economic justice issues.**WORK MODE**Hybrid/Split; Employee hired for this position will have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (2x/week) #LI-HYBRID**SALARY RANGE**$66,300 - $75,000 annually**SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS**Please submit a cover letter and resume with your application as well as a content sample.
