Position Overview This is a full-time, on-site Social Media and Content Manager role at Tappan in Los Angeles, CA. The person in this role will be responsible for day-to-day tasks across marketing, communications, content strategy, and channel optimization, to grow key performance metrics, revenue, and ensure our artists’ practices are translated to compelling social narratives. We are looking for an organized, energetic self-starter who can use their skills and experience to help Tappan grow.
In this role, you will design, produce, plan, and execute engaging creative across our social media platforms, and implement effective social marketing strategies to drive engagement, audience growth, and attributed revenue. You will also play a key role in bringing Tappan’s artist stories to a wider audience, helping to introduce new people to the world of art collecting and deepen public appreciation for contemporary art.
Key Responsibilities
Own and manage all social platforms for Tappan, including daily posting, scheduling, planning, and execution across Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Facebook, and Threads.
Develop and maintain a social media strategy and brand voice that reflects the gallery’s curatorial vision, artist roster, and luxury positioning.
Create, curate, and publish high-quality content—including exhibition previews, studio visits, artist highlights, behind-the-scenes moments, and new inventory—optimized for both organic and paid channels.
Utilize industry-leading software and AI tools to enhance content creation, streamline workflows, increase output quality, and support best-in-category digital performance.
Capture weekly content at the gallery and at all Tappan events; coordinate photography and video production to ensure editorial‑level visuals.
Produce compelling written content and captions that blend art education with luxury storytelling.
Organize all content in chosen platforms for team‑wide access, efficient usage, and long‑term shareability.
Manage the community daily across platforms, responding to comments and DMs with professionalism and a concierge‑like approach.
Cultivate relationships with collectors, interior designers, influencers, and luxury‑aligned partners to expand reach and engagement.
Monitor performance and report weekly and monthly analytics, using data—and AI‑driven insights where relevant—to optimize content strategy and drive channel growth and revenue.
Track competitors and luxury/art‑world trends to identify opportunities and ensure a best‑in‑class digital presence.
Collaborate with Gallery Directors, Artists, Artist Managers, Ecommerce, and Sales to align content with exhibitions, announcements, and new inventory.
Generate new content concepts and modular storytelling approaches that support growth and brand distinction and our core mission of making it easy to learn about and collect good art.
Qualifications
2–5 years of social media or e-commerce experience, ideally within
art, design, luxury goods, fashion, or high‑end retail .
Strong visual sensibility and familiarity with art world aesthetics.
Proficiency in content creation tools (Adobe Suite, Canva, VSCO, Lightroom), as well as iPhone and DSLR Cameras.
Comfortable speaking about art, artists, materials, and processes with confidence and clarity.
Strong copywriting skills with a refined, editorial tone.
Experience managing paid social campaigns.
Analytical skills: able to interpret performance data and adjust strategy.
Experience with Shopify or similar e-commerce platforms a plus.
Comfortable interacting with high‑net‑worth customers and maintaining discretion.
