* Reviews history, physical information, medication, procedure request, and study protocol.* Calibrates, maintains, and troubleshoots equipment. Selects amplifier settings, obtains quality data, and analyzes data during recordings.* Explains test procedures and orients patients/families using age appropriate guidelines.* Performs appropriate physiologic calibrations to ensure proper signals and makes adjustments if necessary.* Perform data acquisition while monitoring study-tracing quality to ensure signals are artifact-free. Identify, correct and document artifact.* Performs routine positive airway pressure (PAP) mask fitting.* Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changed in procedure, and other significant events in order to facilitate scoring and interpretation of Polysomnographic results.* Implement appropriate interventions (including actions necessary for patient safety and therapeutic intervention such as positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.)* Assist with scoring sleep/wake stages and scoring clinical events (such as respiratory events cardiac events, limb movements, arousals, etc.) utilizing AASM standards.* Demonstrate ability to apply knowledge to different testing situations within polysomnography.* Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.* Performs other job functions as assigned.* High school diploma or GED required. - RPSGT (Registered Polysomnographic Technologist) by Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) credential preferred.* Two years of college or equivalents preferred, or 1-2 years of experience performing polysomnography is preferred.* Successful completion of a sleep technology program, associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility.* Current CPR or BLS certification required.* Demonstrated effective written and spoken communication skills.* Ability to move machines and patient weighing in excess of 25 pounds.* Ability to comply with the BRPT standards of Conduct.At Lurie Children’s, we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity, reflecting individual contributions, experience, and expertise.
