Requirements
Basic installation, service, and repair of communications equipment and other electronic devices.
Essential Job Functions:
Design brackets for and install radios, sirens, radar, and other electronic devices.
Pre-fabricate wiring harnesses and equipment packages for installation.
Remove and reinstall interior vehicle panels, seats, and flooring.
Perform electronic equipment installations in vehicles, both new and in-service.
Remove communications and electrical equipment from decommissioned vehicles.
Communicate maintenance actions via work orders or memoranda.
Maintain reliable attendance and work overtime as needed. Respond to emergencies on a 24-hour basis, including weekends and holidays.
Assist in various projects and tasks as requested.
Job Standards:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic knowledge of automotive 12-volt wiring is desirable.
Clear written and oral communication skills.
Valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements:
Heavy lifting over 50 pounds occasionally; frequent lifting of 20-50 pounds; occasional light lifting.
Work indoors and outdoors, in extreme temperatures, with prolonged standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, and lifting.
Manipulate small parts in awkward positions; distinguish color-coded wiring; read fine print; discern radio signals and transmissions.
Work Environment:
Varies from shop/lab to field work.
Equipment Used:
Shop machinery, hand and power tools, test equipment, computer equipment.
