Role Description
Legacy Foundation is seeking a full-time Development and Marketing Manager to join our team on-site in Merrillville, IN. This role involves planning and implementing fundraising initiatives, managing donor relations, and developing marketing strategies to support the foundation's mission. The Development and Marketing Manager will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to drive awareness and community engagement efforts. Qualifications
Professional/Technical Abilities Experience developing and implementing fundraising strategies Experience executing marketing campaigns and managing projects Excellent writing/editing and communication skills Experience identifying, researching, and cultivating relationships with individual, foundation, and corporate donors. Track record of managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently Capable of meeting tight deadlines, with experience writing press releases, fact sheets, newsletters and other communications work product. Knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint Experience working in a fundraising database system Basic graphic design skills Bachelor’s degree in a related field or higher Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a related field, such as community relations, fundraising, strategic communications, or other nonprofit or public sector experience Ability to work collaboratively with staff, vendors, volunteers, and other stakeholders Personal Characteristics Commitment to serve the community and work in a not-for-profit environment Maintains professional image Demonstrates interpersonal skills Thinks independently and creatively Remains flexible and successful within changing environments and demands Exercises good judgment and decision-making capabilities Evidence of dependability and effective work habits Excellent strategic thinking and planning skills An appreciation for the unique opportunities of Lake County communities Strong facilitation and communication skills (both oral and written) and the ability to be an effective and outgoing spokesperson for Legacy Foundation in the community. Working Conditions
A. Physical Demands: Sitting, standing, walking, and lifting. Acute verbal, hearing, and visual senses required for communication. Work environment includes various locations in office and public. Manual dexterity and visual capability to use computer, audio/visual and general office equipment. May include lifting and carrying up to 20 lbs. B. Mental Demands: Must be able to work under moderate to high stress. Responsibilities
Assist in planning and implementing fundraising strategies and campaigns (annual, special events, direct mail, online, etc.). Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, and foundation donors. Develop and manage corporate sponsorship opportunities. Work toward a diversified funding base, including corporate, foundation, special event, direct mail, and web-based fundraising strategies. Strengthen the foundation’s market presence through outreach and engagement initiatives. Donor Relations & Stewardship
Assist with donor research, tracking, and recognition. Maintain accurate donor information and activity in the organization’s database Assist with development and coordination of all special events. Support donor engagement activities, including communications and event logistics. Accurately maintain donor records and fundraising activity logs. Provide professional assistance and interaction with donors (via phone, computer and face-to-face) Communications and Marketing
Assist in the development and distribution of marketing materials Ensure timely execution of activities Write, edit and manage the design and production of newsletters, annual reports, brochures, and special event materials Coordinate media interest in the Foundation and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests Keep informed of developments in the fields of marketing, communications and public relations and use this information to help the Foundation operate with initiative and innovation. Leverage the Foundation’s mission on official website and other social networking channels (i.e. Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram). Manage relationships with graphic designers, freelance writers, videographers and other freelance talent as needed. Execute the production and distribution of the Foundations’ Annual Appeal- a series of direct mail and email appeals to various constituencies to create awareness of the Foundation’s funding needs and secure funds Work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and board members to achieve fundraising goals. Support, as needed, fundraising and public relations efforts, including events, media requests, and volunteer relations.
