ROLE: KUSI News
is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, multiplatform News Anchor to join our evening news team. Successful candidate excels in ad‑libbing, live interviewing, and driving engagement across our broadcast and digital platforms.
We are not looking for traditional news readers. We are looking for an active leader in the newsroom, on and off the screen. This person always needs to model professionalism, promote productive collaboration, and be solution oriented. The ideal candidate will have a personable delivery style while upholding high journalistic integrity.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Anchors weeknight 4.5 hours of regularly scheduled newscasts
Anchors additional news specials & streaming programs for station's CTV app
Ensures all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
Superior skills with ad‑libbing live at length as needed and strong ability to interact with co‑anchors and field crews
Responds to breaking news and other urgent newsroom situations as required
Writes and delivers news stories in a clear and concise manner for broadcasts and website
Assists in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating news and digital content
Must be creative with how to present stories in ways that engage today's audiences
Uses best practices for social media platforms to promote station content and drive viewer engagement
Proactively involved in editorial process and news cycle and adapts productively to change
Develops community contacts and a network of news sources
Enterprises special reports
Attends station partnerships in community
Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communication or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and work‑related experience
TV anchoring and reporting experience preferred
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
Must interact positively and productively with colleagues and the public
Upholds station values and models professionalism on and off the air
Excellent news judgment with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, newsmakers and issues
Strong on‑air presentation - must be credible, personable and engaging
Experience guiding, directing and motivating others
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Excellent ad‑libbing skills with ability to ad‑lib and live interview at length when required
Must be able to accept constructive direction and feedback
Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate productively with a team to shape solutions
Strong time‑management skills to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Must be flexible with schedule and be willing to work additional hours or days or different shifts and holidays as required by news content
Can perform duties and make decisions under extreme pressure
Salary starting $140,000 a year commensurate with experience and skill level
