MUSTANG EXPRESS REPORTER
The expectation is to complete 3 designated articles (1 being a feature) per Mustang Express edition (3-4 editions per year)
The additional hours worked in this position do not accrue any additional seniority; there are no additional fringe benefits with these extra duty hours.
Job Duties include: The Mustang Express Reporter is a key member of the editorial team responsible for discovering, researching, and writing compelling stories that showcase the vibrant life, achievements, and unique spirit of Mora Schools. The role involves interviewing students, staff, and alumni, monitoring school events and happenings, and crafting engaging content. The ideal candidate will be curious, a strong communicator, detail-oriented, and passionate about storytelling within our school community.
Key Responsibilities:
Actively seek out interesting story ideas related to school events, academic achievements, student and staff profiles, extracurricular activities, alumni news, and community involvement
Conduct thorough research to gather accurate and relevant information for articles
Work under the direction of the Mustang Express Editor to develop story angles, receive feedback, and revise content
Interview stakeholders to gather quotes, perspectives, and background information
Develop effective interview questions and conduct interviews professionally and ethically
Learn and apply basic journalistic ethics, including respecting privacy and obtaining necessary permissions
Qualifications: High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
Salary: $225.00 per completed and published edition of the Mustang Express.
