Marketing - Graphic Designer and Marketing Coordinator, $25/hour
Honest Weight Food Co-op invites applications for this position. We are an equal employment opportunity employer. Full‑time, hourly, 40 hours per week. Salary: $25.00 per hour.
Overview Contribute to the success of Honest Weight Food Co-op by collaborating with and supporting the identity and mission‑based teams, including the design team, education specialist, outreach specialist, member‑owner coordinator, and marketing manager in the production and design of print, signage, digital, and social elements. Provide hands‑on support in the planning and execution of in‑store classes and events.
Job Responsibilities Design
Design print direct mail, newspaper, magazine ads and various collateral materials
Design signage (promotional, shelf level, institutional, digital menu boards)
Design/produce assets for website, email campaigns, and social media
Assist with production/design of in‑store weekly/bi‑weekly promotions (flyers, signs, handouts) as needed
Produce and/or design content for HWFC’s Coop Scoop bi‑monthly magazine
Re‑purpose and refresh existing graphics and materials
Actively and optimistically participate in team meetings and brainstorming sessions
Assist in creation/ordering of on‑brand in‑store materials and supplies (stickers, business cards, stationery, letterhead, swag, etc.)
Assist with education, outreach, and membership materials as needed (posters, brochures, register screens, handouts)
Social Media
Collaborate with the marketing team and operations staff to keep HWFC social and digital media platforms fresh, exciting, and relevant
Seek out new and interesting products and store‑wide initiatives to feature on social platforms
Collaborate with store departments on social content regularly
Create easy‑access channels for store departments to submit items and initiatives they want featured
Mission‑Based Team Support
Support organization and setup of store events (education, outreach, demos, mission‑based, and membership) as needed
Collaborate with the education specialist to ensure in‑store events run smoothly and are successful
Perform other responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Understanding of and passion for the natural foods industry
Experience or strong interest in cooperative business model and values
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Ability to multitask and succeed in a deadline‑driven environment
Solid understanding of brand guidelines
Solid understanding of basic advertising and marketing principles
Experience designing print and digital in a quick‑turnaround, deadline‑driven environment
Familiarity with both Mac and PC platforms
Above‑average proficiency in Adobe Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Proven working knowledge of various social media platforms, differences, and specific design needs
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proven ability to pay attention to details and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Must be able to consistently and safely lift & carry up to 35 lbs and push or pull carts weighing up to 100 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of and passion for natural foods retail and the health food industry
Education or training in graphic design, visual arts, communications, or related field
Experienced and comfortable collaborating with internal and external teams
Previous experience working with website Content Management Systems
Basic knowledge of website design and familiarity with blog maintenance
Above‑average digital photography and video skills
Additional Beneficial Qualifications
Illustration and hand lettering skills
Ability to tweak or re‑work existing copy and write basic headlines for print and social media
Above‑average experience with social media planning, measurement, and advertising
Experience with animation, video creation, and editing (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut)
