Instructional Aide - High School Library Position: Instructional Aide - High School Library at Rockdale ISD. Under direct supervision of a certified staff member, assist certified professional employees in the media center to enable students to effectively use instructional materials and resources. Responsibilities Assist students in locating reference and instructional materials and develop independence in using library resources. Reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, media and related skills. Maintain circulation desk operations and files. Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning. Operate audio-visual equipment as needed. Assist in cataloging and filing learning materials. Prepare, copy, distribute and use educational materials. Serve as a reference guide for students. Arrange book displays, exhibits and other items to promote reading and learning. Assist with selection and weeding of library materials. Utilize and maintain instructional and non-instructional library equipment, including a personal computer if necessary. Qualifications and Skills High school diploma or equivalent. Prior experience working with children (preferred). Educational Aide Certificate (EA II or EA III) (if required). Ability to carry out instructions, use personal computers and teach students to use them. Strong arithmetic, writing and communication skills. Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and maintain confidentiality. Ability to follow directives and assist students with instructional tasks. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships. Work Environment and Other Works in standard office and school building environments.
