Overview Customs Entry Writer is a role at R+L Global Logistics that facilitates the accurate and timely submission of customs entries for clearance through U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Partner Government Agencies (PGA) for inbound freight shipments. This includes classifying products, determining tariff and duty payments, and tracking inbound shipments.
Responsibilities Serve as a customer advocate, committed to providing excellent levels of customer service and a strong sense of accountability and urgency.
Accurately classify products with the appropriate HTS code.
Determine relevant duties and tariffs based on valuation of goods using available government resources.
Promptly prepare and submit all required government forms and customs entries in compliance with regulations.
Prepare and execute billings for entry related services.
Monitor shipments as they move through customs to ensure compliance at every stage. Report and resolve issues, delays, and customs holds to minimize service charges.
Work with transportation agents, CBP and others to resolve rejections and requests for information pertaining to custom entries. Make corrections and updates to entries as necessary.
Handle customs correspondence post-entry process and any other related clearance details/information.
Stay up-to-date on all customs procedures, rules and regulatory changes.

Qualifications High School Diploma or GED; degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience preferred.
Must possess and maintain a Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) certification and/or US Customs Broker license or have the ability to obtain either within 1 year of employment.
2+ years’ experience in processing customs entries and declarations.
Experience using CargoWise Customs & Compliance software is a plus.
Experience with Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) portal and Automated Broker Interface (ABI) is a plus.
Knowledge of customs brokerage operations, U.S. Customs regulations, trade procedures, customs clearance activities, HTS/tariff classifications, valuations, and PGA requirements.
Ability to handle processing of customs entries within tight time constraints with high attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong problem-solving and customer service skills; ability to communicate effectively with internal and external partners.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and deadlines; maintain discretion on confidential matters and provide excellent service.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and video conferencing tools (WebEx, Zoom, Teams).
Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
