Posting Summary
Rutgers University‑Newark (RU‑N) is seeking an Edit Media Specialist who will report to the Executive Director and work closely with the RBS Communications and Marketing team. The role involves creating video content to raise the preeminence and visibility of RBS. The position is exempt under FLSA and graded at Level 05.
Responsibilities
- Produce assigned and self‑initiated videos that market RBS programs, student experiences, alumni successes, and faculty research in a compelling, creative, engaging, and professional style.
- Coordinate distribution to a wide audience through the RBS YouTube channel, website, social media and other platforms.
- Write, edit and photograph with enthusiasm for video storytelling for all projects.
- Utilize digital video editing systems such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, photo editing programs, and content management systems.
- Occasionally fulfill dual functions in both video and photography.
- Manage multiple projects with varying deadlines for the RBS community.
- Collaborate with colleagues within RBS to generate new ideas for presenting video content on academic programs, research, student experiences, and alumni successes.
- Monitor emerging trends in videography and social media and adapt new features to enhance video use.
- Continuously build on current knowledge and skills to stay relevant within the evolving field of marketing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, PR, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Minimum of two years of proven experience in copy‑writing, speech writing, campaign creation, and brand strategy in a high‑paced organization or institution.
- Experience with high‑level training in videography demonstrated by a degree or certificate.
- Minimum of three years of experience as a videographer with demonstrable storytelling, video production, editing, and writing skills.
- Proficient with high‑end digital cameras, lighting, audio recording equipment, and photography fundamentals.
- Knowledge of social media platforms and ability to post video content on YouTube and other platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication, problem‑solving, and time‑management skills.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse members of the RBS and RU‑N community to conceive, plan, and execute high‑quality video content.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education communications and appreciation for the academic community.
- Knowledge of photography fundamentals and experience in photography.
- Experience shooting video on Canon, Sony or Panasonic cameras and using critical equipment such as lighting, storyboarding software, and Mac Pro non‑linear editing systems with multiple monitor setups.
- Proficient with Premier, Photo Shop and other software necessary to produce high‑quality video content.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Work may require travel between Newark and New Brunswick campuses, transporting heavy equipment (50 pounds or more).
- Ability to work weekends and evenings when necessary.
- Valid driver’s license required.

Salary
Minimum salary: $68,278.48; mid range: $84,393.98; maximum: $100,509.48.
