Position Summary
The UNM Health Sciences Marketing and Communications Department is looking for a dynamic and creative visual storyteller who is excited to create compelling visual content that showcases our mission of improving health and advancing discovery. This position produces photography and video that tell authentic stories of patient care, research, education, and community impact. Reporting to the Director of Communications for the UNM Health Sciences Center, the selected candidate will work in a team setting, often paired with a writer to create content collaboratively. This position often works with executive and senior leadership, as well as frontline health care staff, and health sciences faculty and researchers.
Key Responsibilities
Capture high‑quality photography and video for use across news media, digital, print, and social platforms, including portraits, events, clinical environments, facilities, and research settings.
Edit and produce video content using the Adobe Creative Suite, After Effects, and related tools to create finished pieces that align with institutional brand and messaging standards.
Collaborate with communications staff, clinicians, and leadership to plan and execute shoots that support strategic storytelling goals.
Maintain visual brand consistency across all assets, ensuring that photos and videos accurately represent the institution’s values, missions, and professionalism.
Ensure all photography and video comply with HIPAA, consent, and privacy regulations, particularly when featuring patients or clinical activity.
Support live event coverage, livestreams, and other special projects as needed. As an integrated marketing and communications team, culture is important to our department.

Conditions of Employment
If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications
At least 5 years of videographer/photographer/editor experience
Deep knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and After Effects
Ability to create motion graphics
Project management skills: ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Experience working in higher education
Experience working in a health care setting

Employment Type Staff – Regular - Full-Time
Salary Monthly: $4,236.27 - $5,950.53
