Overview Performance Librarians are each assigned to an AMFS performing ensemble, including opportunities in material circulation, musical theater, opera, band, contemporary, symphony orchestra, and chamber music. The Performance Librarians report to the Head Librarian.

Responsibilities

Prepare, bow, and mark parts as necessary in consultation with the Head Librarian, guest conductors, concertmasters, and faculty.

Organize music folders for orchestra personnel, distribute parts to musicians, and track outstanding parts to ensure all are returned at the end of each concert week.

Assist production crew with music shifts during stage changes at both rehearsal and concert services.

Attend all rehearsals, readings, and concerts for the assigned ensemble(s).

Staff the libraries at either the Bucksbaum Campus or the Klein Music Tent during open hours.

Work closely and effectively with guest artists, faculty members, students, and staff.

At the discretion of the Head Librarian, work with publishers to ensure music materials are ordered, complete, and fully prepared.

Other related duties as necessary.

Requirements

A minimum of 2 years music library experience required.

Knowledge of classical music repertoire and the ability to read music required.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.

Ability to meet strict deadlines, while demonstrating patience, good judgement, and a positive attitude.

Knowledge of computers (Microsoft products) and information technology. Experience with ArtsVision, ResourceMate, and Adobe suite is preferred but not required. Training will be provided as necessary.

Dates June 2, 2026 - August 24, 2026

Compensation $18/hour plus housing provided by AMFS (valued at a minimum of $5.16/hour depending on location.) Overtime $27/hour

Benefits include AMFS season pass and paid sick time.
