Job Description OU Nightly is a student-produced television newscast that airs on Cox Cable and is livestreamed on social media.

The OU Nightly student employee will assist staff/faculty in supervision and training of the OU Nightly editorial crews, and help lead in editorial production of news, weather, and sports inside the newscast.

(Note, this application is for editorial roles only. Production crew positions are posted separately.)

The student may perform as OU Nightly Producer or Associate Producer, Senior Reporter, News, Sports, or Weather Leader or a Video Producer. Other roles/duties as assigned.

Job Requirements Required Education:

Must be currently enrolled in the Spring Term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.

Must attach Spring 2026 class schedule

Skills :

Familiar with newsroom system/software Inception, to include inserting graphics and video, and full knowledge of scripting for all broadcast style scripts

Effective communication skills and professional attitude

Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently

Specialized roles, such as weather leader, require full knowledge of Baron weather graphics, and previous experience as an on-air weather anchor for OU Nightly
