The ACRDS Library Technician, in collaboration with the Ordering Team Coordinator, manages purchase requests for print and online one-time material for the UMD Libraries collections.
The ACRDS Library Technician is a valuable member of the Acquisitions, Continuing Resources & Data Services (ACRDS) team.
The successful candidate in this position: evaluates all the requests to ensure no duplication in content between new orders and existing materials occurs, monitors spending on each monographic budget, resolves any discrepancies with orders, and communicates with subject librarians.
This position also handles order requests received on Material Request Forms (MRF) and places orders with special vendors as needed. The ACRDS Library Technician verifies the receipt of all one-time resource material, and identifies and resolves any problems with these materials. Finally, the person in this position reconciles their credit card transactions in the campus procurement card system..# **Minimum Qualifications**EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GEDEXPERIENCE: Five years progressively responsible experience directly related to the primary duties of the position.OTHER:REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:Thorough knowledge and understanding of the nature and function of libraries, of library services, standards and procedures; of bibliographic tools and records, publishing and publication formats and library information storage and retrieval systems. Skill in interpreting and applying library policies, procedures and explaining technical material such as local and national library standards and rules; in using a computer terminal to input and retrieve information; in resolving library technical support problems; in alphabetic and numeric filing; in communicating effectively; in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships with library users and staff.
