REPORTS TO: Assistant Lighting Designer, Production Manager
JOB TYPE: Seasonal, Salaried
GENERAL JOB STATEMENT: The Master Electrician works with the Lighting Designer and Assistant Lighting Designer in the direction of electrics staff and crew; hanging, focusing, and maintenance of instruments; planning and execution of electrical projects relating to scenery, props, crafts or otherwise; and inventory budget and management.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Interpret and organize the light plot to determine the most efficient way to hang and focus lights.
Assist designers and electricians during technical rehearsals and shows.
Assist in planning, research, and engineering of practicals, special effects, and special projects.
Assist in organization and maintenance of workspaces and tools.
Maintain electrics shop and inventory.
Ability to work with and lead a crew.
Any additional tasks as requested by the Assistant Lighting Designer or the PM.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in technical theatre or equivalent experience.
Minimum 2 years’ professional experience in electrics including safe practices, wiring, hang & focus, and run crew.
Ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
