DESCRIPTION
The Startup Musical Workshop Production is an original contemporary musical exploring ambition, innovation, and human connection in the age of technology. We are assembling a collaborative, high‑caliber creative/production team passionate about bringing new work to life. After a series of successful staged readings, the show is getting on its feet for a workshop production in Spring 2026.
DUTIES
Execute the Lighting Designer’s plot, including hanging, circuiting, labeling, focusing, and testing all lighting instruments.
Coordinate with the Lighting Designer, Technical Director, and Production Manager to determine equipment needs, schedule work calls, and ensure timely completion of lighting tasks.
Oversee all electrical and lighting equipment, including dimmers, power distribution, LED fixtures, practicals, and control systems.
Ensure all lighting elements are installed and maintained in accordance with safety codes, venue regulations, and best practices.
Program, load, or assist with console setup in collaboration with the Lighting Designer (as needed).
Troubleshoot and resolve lighting and electrical issues during tech and performances.
Communicate clearly with stage management and technical departments regarding lighting needs, changes, and safety concerns.
Assist with strike and restore the venue to its original condition following the final performance.
QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience as a Master Electrician, Assistant ME, or Production Electrician.
Strong understanding of theatrical lighting systems, dimming, power distribution, and safety standards.
Ability to read and interpret lighting plots, shop orders, and technical paperwork.
Experience working with conventional and LED fixtures; familiarity with venue consoles (ETC preferred).
Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
Ability to lift and move equipment and work at heights when required.
WORK SCHEDULE Pre‑production meetings: Late 2025–February 2026 (virtual, optional). Rehearsals run February 28 – April 19, 2026. Key dates:
• March 23‑27 – Load‑in/build week (daytime availability required).
• March 28‑29 – TECH (must be present ALL DAY).
• March 31 – Dress rehearsal (on‑call).
• April 1‑4 – Preview performances (on‑call).
• April 8‑19 – Run of show (on‑call).
COMPENSATION This workshop production offers a stipend of $250. Working hours are flexible before tech and can accommodate your schedule.
