Job Summary
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the Director Donor Communications is responsible for overseeing the marketing, communications, and branding of the Harris Health Strategic Fund (Strategic Fund) and the Harris County Hospital District Foundation (Foundation). This includes development and implementation of marcom strategies and programs to ensure the development team's strategic priorities are achieved while elevating awareness internally and externally of development priorities. The Director provides strategic leadership through communication expertise including researching, writing, editing, proofing, and publishing information that effectively and accurately supports development goals across print, digital, and electronic venues.
Minimum Qualifications
Degrees: Bachelors in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Non‑profit Management, Business, or a related field.
Work Experience
Seven (7) Years Experience: Development communications, non‑profit marketing and/or communications, or related field – health care or comparably complex organization preferred.
Three (3) Years Experience: Generating and leading non‑profit communications programs to establish and strengthen high‑quality relationships with donors.
Management Experience
Five (5) Years of Management Experience: Overseeing and managing staff, including hiring, training, performance management, and professional development in a non‑profit communications setting.
Communication Skills
Above Average Verbal Communication (Heavy Public Contact)

Ability to lead through influence to motivate staff and direct work.
Knowledge and experience in philanthropy, ethics, motivations for giving and volunteering, research and cultivation practices, and standard fundraising techniques.
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite: MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and PC.
