Position Summary
A Writing Center Consultant coaches writers on their writing processes and their works in progress and develops a variety of strategies for supporting writers. They continue learning about best practices in tutoring writing via study of Writing Center scholarship. They work with faculty, tutoring supervisors, and their fellow tutors. Other duties include but are not limited to maintaining a welcoming Writing Center environment and filling out report forms for tutoring appointments.

Preferred Qualifications Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications: Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better and completion of at least English 1110, 1110Z or 1120 with a grade of B or higher or the equivalent (such as placement into English 1120).
Also valued, though not required, in applicants: successful completion of English 1120 and/or Technical Writing, or experience with writing in any language that is not their original language, or interest or experience in any kind of teaching, or facility with computer applications such as cloud documents, spreadsheets, or Zoom, or other special experience or skills that could be useful in their tutoring of writing.
