JOB SUMMARY
The Intake Authorization Specialist communicates and coordinates with patients, families, and physician offices.
Process referrals and coordination of orders.
Assist in ensuring smooth clinical operations.
Maintain strong community relationships, and helps ensure adherence to regulations, policies, and procedures.II.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1.
Ensures compliance with all state, federal, and Joint Commission referral/intake regulatory requirements.
2.
Assist with processing all incoming faxes
3.
Maintain monthly verification of Medicaid eligibility status for Medicaid clients
4.
Maintain monthly verification eligibility for Medicare and PDGM payers
5.
Assist and track home health and hospice physician orders.
6.
Track and process face to face packets
7.
Directs the implementation of improved work methods and procedures to ensure patients are admitted in accordance with policy.
8.
Creates and maintains and keep up to date start of care packets for RN’s and Therapists
9.
Reviews, organize SOC documents, verify signature and input into HCHB system
10.
Verify and scan start of care packets with all required documents necessary for compliance
11.
Ensures input of new referrals as directed
12.
Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with current and potential
referral sources.
13.
Ensures maximum third-party reimbursement through direct oversight of insurance verification, authorization processes, and follow up.
14.
Process initial and recertification authorizations.
15.
Gathers, collates, and reports referral statistics including key customer referral trends.
16.
Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of Hospice and Home Health contractual relationships and ensures that patients are admitted according to contract provisions.
17.
Maintains comprehensive working knowledge of community resources and assists referral sources in accessing community resources should services not be provided by PASCO/SW Healthcare.
18.
Attends and participates in staff, education, and agency committee meetings as appropriate.
19.
Provides staff development and training for the department as appropriate.
20.
Assists in all therapy and skilled nursing referrals and coordination.
21.
Monitors aged unsigned physician orders and submit second and third requests for signed orders to overdue physicians, calls or visits the offices of seriously overdue physicians.
22.
Supervises the use of the clinical records information system and maintains a comprehensive working knowledge of the system including upgrades and enhancements
23.
Participates actively in the Quality Improvement plan established by the agency.
24.
Process and ensure delivery of requested medical records.
25.
Assist and process daily, all clinical workflow functions.
26.

JOB REQUIREMENTS (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
1.
Healthcare experience, preferably in referrals/intake in a home health or hospice environment.
2.
A nursing background is preferred but not required.
3.
Demonstrates good communication, negotiation, and public relations skills.
4.
