Job Summary: The systems librarian manages, configures, and maintains the library’s integrated library system (ILS) and other library technologies, ensuring efficient operation and supporting access to exceptional resources and services. The role identifies business problems, assesses solutions, and delivers innovative library services.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, information systems, library science, or a related field with 5 years of experience in a library setting OR Master’s degree in a related field with 2 years of experience in a library setting.
At least 2 years’ experience with ILS systems such as Alma/Primo VE or other library management systems and knowledge of HTML and CSS.
Experience in business analysis, including requirements gathering, analysis, prioritization, process analysis, and cost/benefit analysis.
Demonstrated working knowledge of information technology principles, processes, systems, and standards, including usability, accessibility, and emerging web technologies.
Experience leading systems projects or implementing new technologies.
Ability to adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
Extensive experience with databases and related data storage systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong planning and organization skills.
Good judgment, diplomacy, and objectivity for effective decision‑making.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA‑accredited institution.
Experience in an academic setting.
Experience with access and authentication processes using SAML and EZproxy.
Essential Functions and Percent of Time:

Business Analysis and User Acceptance
Work with stakeholders to assimilate knowledge of library applications, use cases, and system requirements.
Serve as functional system administrator for university library systems.
Apply business process reengineering techniques to redesign business processes.
Lead design, testing, deployment, maintenance, troubleshooting, and evaluation of systems such as Alma/Primo VE, Springshare LibApps, and EBSCOhost.
Research, evaluate, recommend, test, and implement new technologies with librarians and staff.
Oversee daily operation of the library’s ILS, including configuration and troubleshooting.
Integrate library systems with institutional systems and platforms.
Lead and participate in technology implementation projects.
Develop and maintain documentation for library systems and procedures.
Analyze, define, and document functional and technical requirements for data mapping, workflows, and integration specifications.
Define, develop, and implement QA test cases and user validation plans.
Develop and update website content with library employees.

Provide technical support and training to library staff on system use.
Collaborate to improve user experience and access to electronic resources.
Work with Special Collections & Archives on metadata harvesting from CORE Scholar and ArchivesSpace.
Serve on the library’s Web Advisory Team, ensuring usability and accessibility compliance.
Troubleshoot, research, and resolve technical and functional problems.

Support and Troubleshooting
Liaise with vendors for system support, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
Plan, test, and implement module changes, upgrades, patches, and fixes.
Maintain vendor relations for functionality and system upgrades.
Ensure data integrity across student success data with the Data Governance Committee and Data Stewardship groups.
Maintain permissions and access for system functions and data across library applications.

Lead statewide library technology initiatives and coordinate local compliance.
Attend meetings and liaise with OhioLINK regarding technology and access issues.
Communicate with OhioLINK libraries for information sharing.

Working Conditions: Office environment; normal work schedule is 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
