The purpose of this position is to create a positive and uplifting library experience to the patrons by assisting them finding materials, answer questions and host programs. This job works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. Essential Functions The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary. Providing customer service and assisting patrons. Maintains and organizes the collection. Facilitates and hosts programs. Enforces Library policy and procedures. Places holds and interlibrary loan requests, tracks and updates the status of requests, and receives and returns materials. Collects statistics and helps compile reports. Issues library cards, maintains patron database, and provides input on library policies. Tracks overdue items, deals with lost materials, handles money and makes deposits. Provides reference service to the public and assists Librarians as needed. Trains patrons in using computers and library resources. Performs related work as assigned. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Library Science or related discipline. One year of Library or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Special Certifications and Licenses None. Physical Demands Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
