Are you a creative, motivated individual eager to start your career in product design? We’re seeking a Graduate Product Designer to join our design team and support the development of innovative products. This entry-level role offers hands‑on experience across the entire product development process, from concept to production, using SolidWorks software.
As a Graduate Product Designer, you will assist senior designers and engineers by preparing 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed technical drawings, contributing to new product creation, and maintaining accurate design documentation.
Key Responsibilities of the Graduate Product Designer
Support senior designers and engineers with 3D CAD modelling, assemblies, and technical drawings using SolidWorks.
Assist in developing new products from concept sketches through to functional prototypes.
Maintain and update design files, drawings, and revision control within the document management system.
Help prepare manufacturing documentation such as bills of materials (BOMs) and fitting instructions.
Liaise with production, procurement, and quality teams to ensure designs meet manufacturing and customer needs.
Support prototype builds and testing, recording any feedback or required changes.
Learn and apply company design standards, quality requirements, and regulations.
Participate in training to improve SolidWorks and engineering skills.
Skills and Experience Required for the Graduate Product Designer
Essential:
Relevant engineering, product design, or manufacturing qualification (BTEC, HNC, degree) or currently studying.
Good communication skills to clearly articulate ideas to colleagues and suppliers.
Ability to work both collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams and independently.
Strong sketching and visual communication skills.
Problem‑solving attitude and eagerness to learn.
Interest in product development with a creative mindset.
Basic understanding of CAD principles and technical drawings.
Competent in Microsoft Office suite.
Desirable:
Some familiarity with SolidWorks (training will be provided).
