Responsibilities The Weapon Product Design (E-11) group is looking for a Design/Drafter to produce models, drawings, layouts and engineering concepts using 3‑D CAD software. The successful candidate will generate complete design packages for complex components, assemblies, tooling, equipment and/or systems; independently define modeling structure for large, complex design projects; resolve design package issues; facilitate design reviews; collaborate with engineers, stakeholders on hardware design, fabrication, assembly and testing; and maintain product data management and configuration of part and assembly definitions.
Salary Design/Drafter 3:
$64,700 – $101,400
Design/Drafter 4:
$71,200 – $112,900
Minimum Job Requirements
Intermediate to advanced understanding of component and tool design, fixturing, schematics, and tooling equipment
Knowledge of machine shop equipment such as mill, lathe, drill press, welder and inspection equipment
Understanding of engineering materials and suitability for component design and manufacture
High‑level 3‑D parametric CAD skills and experience with a Product Data Management system
Proficiency in modeling and drawing drafting principles, application of standards, symbols, notes, GD&T on drawings and models to capture design intent
Ability to develop novel design solutions for unique and non‑standard challenges in static or dynamic applications
Experience applying design limits in non‑routine environments
Collaboration & Teaming Responsible for development and design of large projects, works directly with customers to define requirements; performs design reviews with stakeholders; clarifies interfaces and resolves issues.
Communication Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to advise engineers in dimensioning strategies.
Education & Experience Level 3:
Associate's Degree in Engineering or Technical field + 3 years related experience (or equivalent). Level 4:
Associate's Degree in Engineering or Technical field + 5 years related experience (or equivalent).
Desired Qualifications
Associate of Science degree in design/drafting or engineering practices
Experience with Creo Parametric 3‑D CAD and PDMLink PLM
Experience with nuclear security enterprise design intent procedures
Active Q clearance or ability to obtain one
