LAC Federal is seeking a part-time Digitization Library Technicians to work onsite at a major federal library in the Washington, D.C. metro area. Responsibilities include digitizing materials, creating metadata, organizing files, and performing quality control. This position requires onsite work and the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
Responsibilities
Retrieve materials and prepare for digitization.
Scan documents following provided standards and workflows
Conduct quality assurance checksli>
Use Adobe Acrobat and scanner tools.
Upload files and follow naming protocols.
Support weeding, shifting, and shelf-reading tasks.
Track removed items and update spreadsheets.
Reorganize collections and flag damaged materials.
Requirements
Associate's degree, plus a minimum of one (I) year of library experience
Experience with digitization processes, operating scanners, and scanning paper materials
Experience with reviewing the quality of the scans for completeness and accuracy
Experience using Windows File Explorer adeptly to save and move digital files
Experience with Microsoft Office products
Experience with searching online library catalogs and repositories
Experience with shelving material using the Library of Congress Classification System
Experience with virtual meeting software
Knowledge of digital file processing
Knowledge of basic descriptive metadata
Ability to learn CRS scanning procedures
Detail-oriented and careful
Comfortable performing repetitive tasks
Ability to follow guidelines and be receptive to feedback
Ability to work independently and in teams
Ability to communicate appropriately with colleagues and supervisors in person and in writing
Must be available to work onsite daily, with no possibility of remote work
Must be able to obtain and maintain a US government public trust security clearance.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to move from place to place within the location, lifting of items weighing up to (25) pounds and occasional up to 50 pounds such as files, books, stacks of paper, and other materials with a buddy system
Ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.
