Description
LAC Federal is seeking Digitization Library Technicians to support the Congressional Research Service (CRS) within a major federal research library. In this role, the technicians will assist with large-scale digitization and collection-management efforts by preparing materials, scanning content, creating metadata, organizing digital files, and ensuring quality control. This onsite position requires strong attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to handle repetitive tasks with accuracy.
Responsibilities
Retrieve materials and prepare for digitization.
Scan documents following CRS standards.
Conduct quality assurance checks.
Use Adobe Acrobat and scanner tools.
Upload files and follow naming protocols.
Support weeding, shifting, and shelf-reading tasks.
Track removed items and update spreadsheets.
Reorganize collections and flag damaged materials.
Requirements
Associate’s degree and 1+ year library experience.
Experience with digitization and scanners.
Proficiency with Windows File Explorer.
Knowledge of metadata and digital processing.
Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
Must work onsite and obtain Public Trust clearance.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to move from place to place within the location, lifting items weighing up to (25) pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds such as files, books, stacks of paper, and other materials with a buddy system.
Ability to sit for long periods of time and maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.
