Supervise the 911 Communications Center and daily operations of dispatchers Ensure timely and efficient response to calls for service Answer emergency and non-emergency calls for service Dispatch and track police and fire units Utilize software, technology, and other resources to assist sworn personnel in identifying and locating people and property Enter arrest warrants into the Crime Information Bureau (CIB) database Maintain accuracy and verification of warrant information Modify, supplement, and cancel warrant entries as needed Review police and fire call information for quality assurance Resolve concerns/complaints not requiring Command Staff involvement (approx. 80% of time) Monitor schedules to ensure minimum staffing levels and maintain efficient operations Qualifications
Associate's degree - Criminal Justice, Fire Science, Public Administration, Emergency Management, or related field 2-3 years of recent dispatching and supervisory experience that include extensive customer service interactions. Ability to accurately type 35 wpm and basic to intermediate knowledge of data entry as well as utilizing software in accordance with the needs of the department. Preferred intermediate knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs such as Microsoft Outlook (mail, calendar, tasks), Word (templates, forms, mail merge, reviewing) and Excel; and Adobe Reader. Basic English, grammar, writing, and math skills. Experience working in team environments as well as diverse backgrounds. Possess the emotional intelligence to effectively perform the duties of the position
