Job Description And Duties

Are you a skilled communicator with exceptional writing abilities who wants to make a difference in the lives of California’s public employees? If so, we want you to join the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) team!

In this role, you will craft clear, compelling, and accurate content across articles, web content, social media, and external communications. You will work with a team of professionals to perform communications, writing, editing, and research tasks critical to ensuring the retirement security of more than 2.4 million CalPERS members. The ability to translate complex topics into accessible, engaging language and a keen eye for detail and quality are essential.

Telework Information: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with up to two days of remote work and three days or more onsite per week.

Sponsorship: This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Statement of Qualifications

Applicants must submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) in response to the questions below. Applications without an SOQ or that do not answer the specific questions will not be considered. The SOQ should be typed, titled “Statement of Qualifications,” and each response must be numbered and list all relevant experience, education, and training, including places of employment, dates, and duties performed. The SOQ must not exceed two pages, be in Arial 11‑point font.

All experience and education relating to the Minimum Qualifications listed on the Classification Specification must be included in the application package.
