Position Summary
The mission of the Chicago College of Performing Arts is to graduate students seeking a career in music, education, theatre, or arts administration, who are confident, passionate, knowledgeable, and capable of functioning in the professional arena, and who are dedicated to the practice of art to serve the cause of human dignity and to effect positive change in their communities.
This position entails the following category of instruction:
Primary:
Directorship of the Vocal Jazz Ensemble
Secondary:
Potential for weekly applied Jazz and Contemporary Voice lessons taught onsite at the Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) Chicago campus, working with students enrolled in the following degree programs:
Bachelor of Music in Jazz and Contemporary Performance; Bachelor of Music Education; Bachelor of Musical Arts; Bachelor of Arts Potential for teaching in other relevant areas as assigned.
Job Duties
Active student recruitment. Successful retention of students by means of effective and healthy pedagogy. Participation in program meetings, adjudication of recitals, juries, and auditions. Clear and timely communications. Timely submission of all grades. Prompt completion of annual university mandated training sessions. Consistent usage of Roosevelt University email address (to be assigned upon onboarding). Submission of course and/or studio syllabi each semester (university mandated template will be provided) documenting all policies, expectations, procedures, and grading criteria). This is a part-time position with a cap of 20 total teaching hours per week
The annual stipend for Vocal Jazz Ensemble direction is $7200 ($3600/semester) Applied studio instruction at $80-$90/studio hour commensurate with experience. Title IX Contact Information:

Working Conditions
Standard climate and noise controlled office, studio and classroom environment. Job is largely sedentary calling for frequent use of wrist for typing. May be exposed to loud voices and/or instruments from students practicing.
