Job Summary This full‑time position works primarily on the 3rd shift (11 p.m. to 7 a.m.) and may require other shifts as needed. The incumbent is responsible for answering calls for services, dispatching appropriate personnel, completing administrative duties, and providing security‑related services to the campus community.

Responsibilities

Monitor radio traffic and dispatch officers to emergency and non‑emergency calls.

Answer public safety phone lines, including landlines and cell phones.

Enter calls into the computer‑aided dispatch (CAD) system and collect all pertinent information.

Respond to walk‑in questions; monitor Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) for driver and vehicle information.

Monitor Blackboard door access, camera systems, and weather alerts; update officers accordingly.

Disseminate incident and accident reports upon request.

Contact local 911, fire department, EMS, and law enforcement for off‑campus incidents.

Monitor fire alarm system and dispatch incident units as needed.

Utilize Automated Issuance Management System (AIMS) and Rave mass notification system for parking tickets, registration, and campus alerts.

Assist with fleet vehicle management and weekly/monthly inspections of emergency equipment.

Keep all public safety reports filed and organized; liaise with USG programs.

Administrative Duties

Create documents and review reports for the Director.

Manage bloodborne pathogens training, Minors on Campus Program, and approved drivers program.

Assist with emergency eyewash, shower inspections, public address system checks, and vehicle mileage sheets.

Serve as USG liaison for the Right to Know program and manage the ‘Report My Driving’ program.

Security Officer Duties (as required)

Unlock and lock doors, boost vehicles, patrol campus, and report criminal or safety concerns to appropriate authorities.

Related Duties

Serve as a CPR/AED instructor for the Public Safety Department and campus community as requested.

Required Qualifications Educational Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.

GCIC/NCIC terminal operator certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).

Basic Communications Officer Training Program (Georgia POST) certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).

Other Required Qualifications

At least 18 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications

CPR/AED certified.

More than two years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge

Georgia Crime Information Center laws and regulations.

Public safety policies and procedures.

Emergency dispatcher policies.

Skills

Decision making and problem solving.

Multi‑tasking.

Customer service and interpersonal communications.

Computer operations: Microsoft Office, Outlook, record management, parking, door access, CAD, and mass notification systems.

Oral and written communication.

Additional Information This role is not supervisory. It is required to drive and is considered a position of trust.
