Performs safe manual operation of non-CDL vehicles such as Tele-Transit and/or BCGo according to defined routes and schedules. Related work as apparent or assigned. Work performed under general supervision of the Transit Operations Supervisor. This is a United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) Safety Sensitive position and is subject to mandatory, random drug and alcohol testing pursuant to Federal and City regulations and policies.
Responsibilities
Transports passengers door-to-door/curb-to-curb via Tele-Transit and/or BCGo according to routes, schedules, and local policies. Complies with local traffic regulations.
Assists and interacts with passengers as necessary and regulates vehicle heating, lighting and ventilation for passenger comfort. Maintains good relationship with public.
Ensures passengers are properly secured and provides assistance with all vehicle entries and exits. Follows all ADA guidelines/regulations as necessary.
Completes pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
Properly reports all incidents, accidents, and mechanical concerns.
Collects and records cash and ticket fares with accuracy.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Valid chauffeur license in the State of Michigan
Special Requirements
Must be able to successfully complete PASS training within 90 days of hire
Must be able to possess a DOT card upon hire
Must have negative USDOT pre-employment drug screening
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, bending, reaching, squatting and stooping. Position also requires hand dexterity (grasping, holding, keyboarding, repetitive movements), reading, writing, eye‑hand coordination, seeing (near and/or far, color, depth, field of vision), hearing, using the telephone, contact with government officials and the general public, working overtime, and working alone. Work frequently requires working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles and exposure to outdoor weather conditions and occasionally including wet, humid, hot and cold.
