Technical Writer I - Integrated Management System (IMS) Documentation
Location: San Jose (Great Oaks Headquarters)
Assignment: 6-month contract with potential to extend or convert
Pay: $30/hour
About the Role
We are seeking an early-career Technical Writer I to support the organization at our Fremont and Great Oaks locations. In this role, you will transform complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation. You'll collaborate closely with technicians, engineers, managers, and subject-matter experts (SMEs) to develop and enhance Integrated Management System (IMS) documentation-including policies, procedures, work instructions, and forms.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with SMEs (technicians, engineers, managers) to gather, analyze, and validate technical information.
- Develop, write, and update IMS documentation using established templates and standards.
- Create clear, structured documentation outlines and content flows.
- Edit, proofread, and revise documents for accuracy, clarity, consistency, and adherence to style and branding guidelines.
- Incorporate graphics, diagrams, screenshots, and visual aids to support procedural understanding.
- Manage documentation projects, including timeline planning, status tracking, and risk escalation.
- Gather feedback from end users, support teams, and SMEs to continuously improve the quality and usability of documentation.
- Ensure compliance with corporate branding, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Use Agile methodologies or the Agility platform to support documentation workflows.
- 1-3 years of relevant technical writing experience; open to recent graduates eager to learn.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, research abilities, and interviewing skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional technical teams.
- Familiarity with documentation tools, templates, and structured writing best practices.
- Knowledge or experience with Agility is a plus.
- Experience working in Agile environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Engineering, or a related field.
