The Position
This position provides virtual and face-to-face tutorial assistance to students in specific subject areas and under the direction of the Specialist and/or Coordinator of the Writing Center, ensuring that the appropriate level of service is provided to students.
What You Will Do
• Tutors students in Writing for specific English content course(s) or courses with a major Writing component, and/or study skills
• Guides and supports student use of campus resources, technology, and appropriate study habits, conducts workshops,
• Provides in class support, creates resources to upload to service area Canvas course(s)
• Meets with Tutoring Resources staff to ensure appropriate level of services are offered
• Maintains and updates the tutoring session logs, completing Conference Summaries as assigned
• Attend training sessions provided by the College
• Complete projects or duties as assigned
The Successful Candidate Must Have
• Ability to effectively manage time and schedules
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
• Warm personality with strong communication skills with customers of diverse backgrounds
• Excellent customer service skills
• Minimum overall GPA of 3.0
Ocean County College offers the following benefits to temporary or on-call as needed employees:
Time Off:
OCC follows the NJ Sick Leave Law, providing one (1) hour of sick leave per every thirty (30) hours worked. A maximum of forty (40) hours may be accrued.
