GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Research & Instruction Librarian supports students, faculty, staff, and the community by providing research assistance and instructional services both in-person and online. This role collaborates with colleagues in the Learning Commons on instructional initiatives and creates and maintains learning materials, promoting equitable access and student support. This position receives general direction from the Coordinator of Library Research & Instruction and exercises no supervision.
NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
SELECTION CRITERIA:

Knowledge of: 1. Research methods and resources; 2. Pedagogical theories, inclusive teaching practices, and ACRL Information Literacy Framework; 3. Instructional design principles and learning technologies, including LibGuides; 4. Library services, policies, and procedures; 5. Academic program structures within designated liaison areas; 6. Ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI) in academic research, instruction, and work-related tasks; 7. Trends and emerging best practices in academic librarianship and professional development;Skills in: 8. Designing and delivering engaging, effective, and inclusive library instruction across modalities; 9. Applying inclusive pedagogy and ACRL Information Literacy Framework; 10. Conducting reference interviews and research consultations; 11. Creating and maintaining research guides and online instructional content; 12. Project management, planning, and assessment; 13. Using and troubleshooting library systems and databases; Ability to: 14. Contribute to team-based instructional initiatives and pursue personal specialization; 15. Work collaboratively as a member of a team to achieve goals; 16. Adapt to evolving technologies and service models; 17. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; 18. Build and maintain professional relationships with campus and community stakeholders; 19. Demonstrate versatility and problem-solving in dynamic library environments; 20. Engage in continuous learning and professional development.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.
QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Master's Degree in Library and/or Information Science from an American Library Association accredited college or university

Experience: More than one year of work experience in a library setting
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: At least one year of work experience in an academic library with instruction responsibilities
